FATIGUE
„Einfach mal das Patriarchat rösten“ dachten sich vier Wahlberlinerinnen und gründeten 2019 kurzerhand die grunge spiced Riot/Punkband „Fatigue“. Die erste EP, die folgerichtig den Titel „Barbecue Times“ trägt, erschien 2021. Auf den Grill kommen hier raue Gitarrenriffs, ein treibendes Schlagzeug, ein knurriger Bass und edgy Vocals mit einer empowernden Message, die zum Mitsingen einladen. Mit Songs wie „Catcall“ thematisiert die Band Sexismus und formuliert gleichzeitig die universelle Antwort („Shame on you!“). Treibende Beats erzählen, was an einem Samstagabend, an dem einfach nichts los ist, zu tun ist: Flasche Wein, Leopard tights on, geht ab, alright? Alright! Lippenstiftverschmierte, laute und wütende Heldinnen der Band sind unter anderem Bikini Kill, Hole und L7. Im Dezember 2022 erschien ihr erstes Album „Precious Rage”.

BIBIONE
Bibione are doomwave surfrock boyband from Prague’s Stvanice Island. The band started to exist in October of 2019 and introduced itself to the audience in the March of 2020. The first eponymous EP was published in March of 2021 ( Stoned to death record label ) . Two singles ” Kafe je kyselý” and “Dance” were released on compilations Crooked to death vol.III and Refugees Welcome compilation. Second EP “Quatro Formaggi” is out in the end of February under Order05 Records.
BABY OF THE BUNCH
Am liebsten würde man gleich Iggy Pop den Song „I’m in a Band“ von baby of the bunch vorspielen. Schwer vorstellbar, dass der Altmeister und Komponist von Liedern wie „Cock in My Pocket“ nicht Gefallen finden würde an Zeilen wie: “Spent all my money on a new guitar/Now I can’t afford to pay my rent/But I’m in a band/I’m in a band/Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah/A fucking band.”
Bei BOTB gibt es momentan keine „cocks in the pockets“. Aber balls haben die Mitglieder allemal. „Wir sind stolz und eingebildet. Wir wollen, dass alle uns hören und angucken.“„Es war eine Gelegenheit, was schreien zu können.“ „Die Pubertät hat so durchgegriffen, dass wir eine Band gründen mussten.“
Was für eine Band? Die BOTB-Mitglieder nennen das, was sie tun, „Riot Wave“. Eine treffende Bezeichnung, denn ihr Erbe reicht nicht nur zu der Riot Grrls Bewegung der Spät-80er und besonders zu der grandios pissigen Gruppe Babes in Toyland zurück, sondern auch weiter in die Vergangenheit zu den kantigen Synthie-Linien von mittlerweile obskuren Formationen wie Romeo Void oder The Motels. Ein Prise Aktuelles wie St. Vincent ist auch nicht zu überhören.
Also doch Frauenmusik? Da kann man BOTB den Buckel runterrutschen, aber richtig. BOTB besteht genau so wenig nur aus Frauen, wie ihr Katalog nur aus Punk besteht. Die Mitglieder dieser Band sind so divers wie ihre Songs.” Sie ziehen Prince, Sonic Youth und Patti Smith vor und hören alles, was fetzt: Bowie, Kate Bush, Big Star und – unglaublich aber wahr, sogar Jazz. Am Ende geht „Watching Paint Dry“ in 5/8-Takt rüber, betont Bronte. „Ich weiß nicht, was das ist“, kontert Finja. Bronte hat Recht – wir haben mitgezählt.
Nichtsdestotrotz: Man muss nicht krumme Takte verstehen, um BOTB geil zu finden. Was muss man auch (nicht) wissen? Dass die Band aus Berlin/Dresden/Leipzig kommt, aber besonders viel Applaus in Mannheim erntet? Dass ein Mitglied Psychologie studiert, obwohl unklar ist, wer? Wenn solches Wissen hilft, bitte schön. Hauptsache: Ihr guckt und hört Euch diese fucking Band live an. Und bringt etwas von dem Geist von Iggy mit, wenn Ihr kommt. Aber erstmal gibt es die neuen Songs zum Debütalbum auf die Ohren.
