Gewalt are back

Posted On October 1, 2024

After receiving the unexpected news that their beloved bass player had decided to quit the band, Gewalt are ploughing on:

The third single off their album, “Schwarz Schwarz,” dropped on the 27th of September 2024, right before their new album “Doppeldenk” is about to hit the streets on the 4th of October. This ain’t your basic party tune. “Schwarz Schwarz” is the party. It’s like being back in those sweat-drenched basements of East Berlin, proper 90s-style, before everything got sanitized. You get a whiff of Members of Mayday—yeah, yeah, Westbam’s ghost is knocking about. Gewalt’s off their nut.

You can Stream it here.
Or Download it on Bandcamp.
The Video drops on Wednesday.

There’s a Prince beat sneaking around the joint, and Gewalt’s having a love affair with the Linn Drum, and get this, a brand spanking new Roland 303. That’s right, it’s pure Acid, mate. Think The Prodigy, Daft Punk, Giorgio Moroder… “I Feel Love?” Nah, this is more like “I feel rage.”

Patrick Wagner, who Tricky once called “the German John Lydon,” is screaming his head off: “Ich kann mich nicht finden, im Wimmelbild.” You’re getting slapped around by a bassline that says, “F*** you,” a drum machine that says, “F*** me,” and a synth that’s ready to tear down the whole f***ing system. And wait—are they really shouting, “Ich kann mich nicht ficken im Wimmelbild” in the second verse? Bloody hell.
