The first weekend of October in Berlin is a gift for anyone who loves indie in all its forms. Over three days, the city hosts three very different but equally powerful concerts: from the nostalgic indie rock of Death Cab for Cutie to the soul pop of Lake Street Dive and the electronic indie experiment of Holy Fuck.
Thursday, October 1: Death Cab for Cutie - Indie Rock with 25 Years of History
Where: Columbiahalle, Kreuzberg
When: October 1, 2026, 20:00
Genre: indie rock / indie pop
Death Cab for Cutie is one of those bands many people started with when they first got into indie. The Seattle quartet has been around since 1997, and in 2026 they bring their new album I Built You a Tower to Berlin. It is their first in several years and, according to critics, one of the best of their career.
On stage you get Ben Gibbard with his signature melancholic vocals and lyrics about love, time and inner shifts, plus a dense guitar arrangement that has become tougher and more rhythmic in recent years. The setlist includes new tracks from I Built You a Tower as well as hits like "I Will Follow You into the Dark", "Soul Meets Body" and "The Sound of Settling".
Why you should go:
- A rare chance to see indie rock classics in Berlin
- A new album praised for combining their signature sound with fresh energy
- The big Columbiahalle venue means proper sound, lighting and the atmosphere of a real tour
Friday, October 2: Lake Street Dive - Soul, Pop and Jazz in One Package
Where: Huxleys Neue Welt, Hasenheide 107, Neukölln
When: October 2, 2026, 20:00
Genre: indie pop / soul / jazz pop
Lake Street Dive is an American quartet that refuses to fit neatly into one genre box. Their music blends soulful vocals from Rachael Price, vintage pop melodies, jazz harmonies and a rhythm section that makes even the "I do not dance at concerts" people move.
In 2025 they released the album Good Together, which earned a Grammy nomination and cemented their reputation as one of the most live and diverse bands on the scene. In Berlin they play as part of a major European tour, and this is their biggest show in the city so far.
Friday, October 2: The Place To Be - Scott & Lila in a Night of Beautiful Chaos
Where: Clärchens Ballhaus, Auguststraße 24/25, 10117 Berlin
When: Friday, October 2, 20:00
Format: live concert / new circus / comedy / DJ set
Scott & Lila are the headline live act at The Place To Be. Their set sits at the centre of the evening: first comes the live performance, followed by a more open, dance-focused part of the night led by DJ Shalaby.
What makes the format unusual is the way Scott & Lila’s concert is placed alongside contemporary circus and comedy. This is not the kind of show where people arrive for one set and head straight home afterwards. The music becomes part of a wider late-night performance, shaped by visual atmosphere, unexpected acts, the audience and the distinctive setting of Clärchens Ballhaus.
Saturday, October 3: Holy Fuck - Electronics Without Laptops
Where: Urban Spree, Revaler Straße 99, Friedrichshain
When: October 3, 2026, doors 19:30, start 20:30
Genre: electronic rock / experimental indie
Holy Fuck is a Canadian quartet from Toronto that makes electronic music the old fashioned way: no laptops, no programmed backing tracks, no safe digital crutches. Instead they use live drums, bass, guitar, pedals, mixers, toy keyboards and even a 35 mm film synchronizer.
Their new album Event Beat comes out in October 2026, and the Berlin show is part of a European tour supporting the release. On stage you get hypnotic rhythms, noisy textures and improvisation that makes every concert unique.
