FAQ indieBerlin
We get it, things can get a little confusing. We sometimes create new branches of the site, see if they work, shut them down, change them, etc. So we’ve decided to give answers to the most Frequently Asked Questions…hope it helps, and if you think anything else should or could be included, please let us know!
Can I list my Berlin cultural event on indieBerlin, and if so, how do I go about it?
Yes! We welcome everyone who’s putting on any kind of cultural event in Berlin, as long as you’re not a large soulless corporation who’s keeping the workers downtrodden. If you want to list an event, here’s what to do:
- Although until recently anyone could sign up to list their event, we were unfortunately spammed so much that we’ve now changed that. If you already have a user account, you can list your events as before. If you’re new however, you have to send us a request to set up a user account before you can list anything.
- Luckily setting up a user account is very easy:
- Go to https://indie.berlin/list-your-event-2/ and use the form to sign up. If you have any problems here (or with anything else) just email me at noelmauricemail@gmail.com.
- Once we receive your details we’ll get back to you as quickly as we can and as long as you’re not someone really mean (or a bot) we’ll approve your account and send you an email with the details of how to sign up.
- We’ll also send you a document to sign where you agree that you take responsibility for any images you post on our site.
- This is because we have to be careful with copyrighted images; which means that if you post an image on our site, it has to be something you know you have the rights to, e.g. you took the photo, the band provided you with the photo and permission to use it, etc.
- Once you’re signed up you can post as many events as you want and as often as you want.
- We’ll share as many of the coolest events on our social media channels (currently Insta and FB) as we can, but since we’re a tiny team doing this for basically no money, we can’t post everything.
- If you wish to go premium, one of the perks of our premium tier, is that we guarantee that your events will be shared on our social media channels.
Can I pay you to review my music?
Sorry, no. The truth is that we did do paid reviews for a while, in the course of finding some way to make indie.berlin pay for itself, but there were more people that disliked this strategy than people that liked it, so we said, fair enough, and now we don’t accept payment for reviews. The flip side of this is of course, as explained above, we are a tiny team doing this for love, so we can’t review as much music as when we could when we were able to pay a writer to do that work. Ah well. There you go.
If you’d like to pay to appear on our site in some form (as long as it’s something that is suitable for our site), you can book an advert on the site – see below – or we can feature you as a sponsored post, which is marked as such.
Do you run banner ads on your website?
Yes. If you’re interesting in booking ad space on our website, please get in touch with us at noelmauricemail@gmail.com and write BOOK AN AD in the subject header. We’ll send you the different banner options and pricing.
Also, if you look in our footer menu (at the bottom of the site) you’ll find a link that will take you to our media kit, where you can find further details on our offers and pricing.
Does indieBerlin organise concerts?
We did for a while, then our booker left, and at the moment we basically don’t, apart from curating a monthly concert in Kleinmachnow in south-west Berlin at the Kammerspiele. Drop back occasionally to see if we’ve decided to book gigs again.
What marketing services do you offer?
This changes from time to time but essentially we offer:
- Music Video Boost: where we use Youtube Ads and a tiny budget to cleverly get your music video played in front of similar videos of bands that have bigger audiences than yours (so that their audience is pretty much guaranteed to like what you do)
- Music Video Production: our award-winning video producer is open to accepting projects if she likes the music and has an opening in her schedule.
- Social Media Campaigns for single and album releases
How long has indieBerlin been around?
We started indieBerlin in 2009 which means we’re presently in our 15th year! indieBerlin was started by Noel Maurice and Mia Morris, covering independent music, culture, art and lifestyle in and of Berlin. Through many twists and turns and new ideas and experiments, we’re still going strong.
Is indieBerlin and indieRepublik connected?
The indieBerlin team decided to start a second website, indierepublik.com, to cover cultural independent stuff going on outside of Berlin, without any geographical restrictions, also connected with an agency that was focused on running marketing and promotion, with a label and management branch also existing for a while. But to be honest in the end we were just stretched too thin to try and run both sites; as of August 2024 we’ve subsumed indieRepublik back into indieBerlin, and we’re very happy about the result, since now we can focus all our efforts on making our indieBerlin website, newsletter and social media channels the best they can be and hey, let’s face it, Berlin is just simply the coolest city around (and the most indie!).
So…that’s all we could think of for the moment…If you’d like to know anything else, hit us up here or on Facebook or Insta, or via our handy little AI chatbot on the site here. And we always love to hear from you…
